Hello all

i have a problem printsharing that i cannot find an answer to anywere.

i have a small home network which conisist of
a dell pc running xp sp2
a epson stylus cx6600 attached to the above pc
a belkin modem/wireless router
a laptop running xp sp2

i have networked both pcs and can file share no problem
have shared the printer on the pc
added the networked printer on the laptop without any problem

but when i print from the laptop nothing happens. no error messages
no action happens on the pc and a print cue does not appear
if i then try to print from the pc nothing prints
when you look at the print cue that then appears in the task bar all
items that have been printed from the laptop appear in the cue
the status is printing, the owner is guest, the size (for a 130 kb) is
down as 130 kb/130 kb
but still nothing happens
the only way i can get the files printed from the pc to print is to
canx the ones in the cue from the laptop

Its driving me crazy
please help
i'm loosing my marbles

if you need any more info please let me know

Hi
That has all been done, the printer share name is cx6600 it can be
viewed from the laptop and shared without any problem. The lap top is
actually spooling the job to the pc, but when it gets to the pc it just
stops when it gets to the top of the que.

Are they running XP Home or XP Pro? If you are using third party firewall
software, is it set correctly?

both are running xp pro
and have the xp firewall operating with the file and print sharing bo
ticked

they are running windows pro and i have checked the event log but there
are no errors.

i have just added a third laptop to the network running xp home have
networked it no problem shared the printer with out any problem and the
exact same thing happens with that. the job seems to be sent to the
main pc but still just sits at the the top of the cue. which leads me
to believe the problem is with the pc sharing the printer
