Hi y'all.

I'm reading this group for sometime now and don't post much here.
But I have found a very nice site with some great little programs.
I don't think I've seen this one posted here before:

Most programs are very small and doesn't even need installation.
The site ain't mine and don't see this post as spam.
I just want to share it with you all.
Have fun.

How could your post be considered as spam? Thanks for the link. Some
neat looking stuff there. By the way, a more direct link is:

I like his FTP client -- less than 500KB, and is just a non-installed
executable. Nice.

I've been using SmartFTP, which I found by looking on the
pricelessware.org site, but that's a sort of "semi-nagware" -- if you
use it during office hours it randomly comes up with a screen that wags
a finger in your face to ask "Are you certain you're not using this for
business purposes"?

That's fair enough on their part, but it can be a bit annoying -- my
website is personal, not business, but since I work from home I tend to
manage it during the day when net traffic is lighter.

I think I'll probably switch to using Pablo's FTP client and see how it
goes.

I concur. Very nice set of programs.

Might also want to look at LeechFTP. I don't remember how large it is,
but that was what I used to use. It probably has an install.

Thanks; I'll check that out -- uploading stuff and managing webspace is
still a fairly recent field for me.

(An aside: should some sort of comment be put on the SmartFTP entry in
pricelessware about the "office-hours screen"? Or am I being too
fussy?)

To me, that makes it serious nagware, and to me, that is an
argument for removing it from Pricelessware.

Thanks for confirming that -- although it didn't unduly raise my
hackles, I was definitely a bit surprised, having used Pricelessware to
get the reference, to discover that it had a "randomly generated nag-
screen in business hours" side to it.

I agree BTS. I switched to Filezilla some time ago and don't miss Smart FTP.

Hi Harvey,
Have you tried FTPSync? http://www.cyberkiko.com/
For site maintenance, there's nothing faster and very easy to setup. I'm
hooked. Click a shortcut and done! I like it a lot :)

I noticed several items on the site that have been discussed
lately, so here's more info on the site.

It has an install but it doesn't have to be installed.

It's possible to just unzip setup.rar from the zip file, and unrar it to
your chosen directory. That's what I did. Piece of carrot cake :)

Leechftp.exe is 809KB

That is indeed tempting to check out.

I don't think you're being fussy at all. If SmartFTP is doing that
then it has no place on the Pricelessware list IMO. There are simply
too many other alternatives.
I agree BTS. I switched to Filezilla some time ago and don't miss Smart FTP.

I'm still using LeechFTP. "Stick with what works" I say. And Leech FTP
always works perfectly for me.

Just googled the ACF archives - SmartFTP v 1.971 apparently was the last
version without the popups. If that version is available for download
somewhere we should probably link the Pricelessware description to that
(and revise the description to explain why).

Henry the Mole had a link on his site to v 1.970 but that appears to be
gone.

Does anyone have a link to offer for version 1.971 (or 1.970)?

Geeez, Mabbett, take a chill pill and give it a rest, huh? Your
constant posting every time J.C. posts is getting old and tiring!
