NIC not holding static IP

When i issue a static IP address to either of my NIC's on
my Win2000 Server, it does not hold the IP, and reverts
back to DHCP assignment. I know both NIC's are working
properly and the network cables are plugged to where they
should be. I have tried uninstalling the nic's and
reinstalling but i still get the same problem. The server
has had all its updates and has been working fine for the
last 12 months or so. This has only come about when
installing ADSL and a firewall which is usually a 30
minute job. Microsofts answer is to disable and re-enable
the local area connections in the network settings but
this does not work.
If anyone has experienced this and has a workaround or fix
i would be gratefull if you could email me and let me
know, as i am now at the point of flattening and reloading
the server, which i don't want to have to do.

Regards

Andy.

.

You have probably installed the NIC and remove it copule
of times. this was left old NIC drivers - one of the
drivers is holding your ip address.

Read this article and remove all the old hidden devices.

When you remove all the old NIC drivers the IP will be
free.
