I do not really get it, but is it true that Nvidia has dropped Vista support
for the NGF 5000 series and thus incl. the GF 5600 FX?

Darn. That cannot be technical but commercial greed only, forcing customers
to purchase new hardware. Not that the other verndors morally any better, but
I will not buy from Nvidia just because of my decision to move to Vista.

Strangely the first betas supported the NGFX 5000 series well and now being
cut off.

I was satisfied with what I "Saw". I just wanted some of the controls
I "had" with XP to work with Vista.

<conspiracy>
Could it be that the 5000 series actually does some things better than
some of the newer versions and this is a cover-up </conspiracy>

use Windows Vista built-in drivers

My FX 5500 works fine with Vista using Vista native drivers.
Just because the manufacturer does not provide updated drivers does not mean
there are not suitable drivers.
The same is true for my ancient 5 year old.HP printer that also works well
with Vista.

Generally the older the hardware the less likely the manufacturer is to
expend resources supporting it.

One thing people need to remember is if you upgrade you Nvidia Video Card to
the 6000 Series from the 5000 Series, you also need as least a 300W Power
Supply as well to run the 6000 Series Card.
