I never upgraded from FP 2002 to 2003. Am considering it now, but did
not want to do an upgrade if the next version is close. I know MS can't
ever hold a deadline or estimated date, but after reading about the
things presented at the PDC, I just want to be sure. I took it that it
would be a while before the next version of FP is out. Anyone who
follows it closer have any insight or ideas of how close it is?

Thanks
David

Perhaps sometime in 2006.

Be cautious. May web hosts only suppor Fontpage 2002 extentions and NOT
2003 extentions. I'm not sure why - but it seems prevalent.

The reason web hosts do not support FP2003 extensions is because there are NO FP2003 extensions.

I can't believe Microsoft forgot to add new extensions
to FP2003. Such sloppy quality assurance! (Grin.)

Read someplace that SharePoint is supposed to be
the FP2003 equivalent of extensions. Don't know
if that's true.

Is there a FP post you don't want to reply to? ;-)

They didn't forget.

Sharepoint is the reference name for maintenance of FP 2002 extensions.
Confusing, sure.

The true Sharepoint is a whole different ballgame.

Point taken. Just deleted all my posts from
the FP forums. Will continue reading but
won't comment again.

"But it does look like FPs days are numbered."

Not necessarily. Stay tuned ;-)

| Great, just as I'm coming to terms with never really utilizing FP the way
I
| should, something new comes along. Demo looks interesting, but looks a bit
| more like DreamWeaver, which scares me off with its learning curve.

Do I have any other place to go?

Didn't think so! :>)

Just please, please PLEASE don't install a copy protection scheme as
draconian as Adobe's been doing lately. I did a BIOS update the other night,
and when I went to start up Photoshop, it said I had to reactivate because
it didn't like the changes it had seen. But reactivation couldn't be done
on-line, had to be on the phone. And they keep "normal", not 24/7, phone
hours for activation.

At least Microsoft lets the software keep working normally for a few days
before shutting you down.
