I've been trying to work out why my msgs never seem to
get any replies....

I usually use Outlook Express

I just tried the following:
Created a msg via OE, waited a few minuted for it to
appear via the communities website.

Checked OE, sure enough it's there.

In OE I flagged the msg to Watch it (the little
spectacles)

Viewed the next page of posts on the Communities page,
then back to discover my post has been removed !

Am I doing something wrong here with OE?

Most frustrating !

Once you mark it as watched, with the spectacles, then make sure to click on
that columns sort icon, to sort by watched posts at the top. You also may
have your view set to show only unread messages, so once you read it, it
doesn't show anymore. Set your view to so all messages.

Maybe it's because your postings are incomprehensible or you are posting in
such a way that no one understands what you're saying. Maybe it's because no
one knows the answer. Maybe it's because it's an FAQ that people as so
bloody fed up of answering that they think you should find the answer for
yourself. Maybe it's because you give them a generic subject line (I, for
one, don't usually download messages simply entitled 'help me!' or 'my
computer don't work').

Yes, none of you posts have been replied to. Maybe you'd like to think about
why that is?

Bwahahahahahahahaha!, yet your next sentence is;
Maybe it's because it's an FAQ that people as so
bloody fed up of answering that they think you should find the answer for
yourself.

INCOMPREHENSIBLE! Bwahahahahahahahahahah!

Of course you download them, you gormless ****, or you wouldn't see them to to make the decision to not answer! But, you don't respond to them anyway, since they are request for "help", rather than one for a reply in diatribes, and ad hominem attakcs!

You replied to it, you ****ing bint!

Message is uncalled for. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

And those who live in class houses shouldn't through stones

You probably have selected to only view unread messages. So when you go
back and read your message and then leave, it will not appear the next time
you open the newsgroup. That doesn't mean that others can't see it.

When you first go back to see your message using Outlook Express, after
scrolling through all the messages hold down CTRL-SHIFT-A. That will mark
all messages as read. Now scroll back up to your message, right click it
and choose Mark Unread. Then leave that newsgroup. The next time you enter
that newsgroup you'll see your message. Before you leave the newsgroup you
can do the same thing again. That way your message will always be
displayed.

An easier way is to simply click on the Find icon at the top of your OS page
while in this newsgroup. Enter James S in the From area. It will find your
message. Or, even better, type the subject "newsgroups use" in the Subject
line on the Find page. That will show all posting about that subject, yours
as well as any replies.

What heat? I do have a class house, thanks very much and I certainly
wouldn't go throwing stones around in it in case I broke something.

And this coming from the guy who thinks there's a bug in OE! PMSL!!

The Communities page interface is being a big pain to us regulars - it
seems to result in people missing their posts, repeating them (I am
heartily sick of answering a post only to find it has been repeated an
hour later. and two hours, and. . ) and posting further comments so that
they do not thread and appear independent with no context.

Using a proper reader like OE is much more reliable - but to be sure,
set it up with a news account on the msnews.microsoft.com server. Posts
that have to wander from an ISP server around the UseNet may end up
being missed out.

And there have been some troubles with Microsoft's servers recently,
which *have* resulted in some posts getting lost

Thank Dennis,
But my issue is with the Communities website.

The msg appears, then it disappears once I've flagged the
msg within my OE.
I've physically seen the msg disappear off the
Communities website!

Could not work out why I was getting no replies into OE
for any post I make !

Thanks for the response,

James S
