I was wondering if anyone knew of a good newsgroup
reader. I dont like Outlook (from office). Ive had
replies where people say they attachted files and i cant
see them. I was also wondering if there was one that
offered a signature option.

Outlook doesn't HAVE a newsreader. And your attachment problem is
nothing to do with Newsgroups. Outlook uses Outlook Express for it's
newsreader.

There are quite a few good alternatives to OE - Free Agent, Xnews,
Gravity, etc etc

Outlook uses the Outlook Express newsreader, but renames it Outlook
Newsreader, so you are both right and wrong. And you are definitely right
the newsreader has nothing to do with attachments. This a setting in
outlook.

In addition to the other programs cited here, Mozilla and Netscape (based ont
the same code) keep a lot of people happy. The latest versions allow for any
number of identities, signatures, etc.

The only thing I have against Forte Agent is that if you subscribe to multiple
news servers, you have to set up a separate instance for each server; this is
perhaps too much nuisance for the casual user.

One other thing, though -- don't EVER open a file that someone attaches to a
newsgroup message! That is exactly how so many people were infected with
HAPPY99; and who are you going to blame if the attached file is virus-laden
with something too new for your AV program?

"IF" and whenever it's released. Right now Agent 2.0 is "vaporware".
However, you can setup identities in Agent 1.93 (current version) to
access more than one server. A bit cumbersome to do it, but it can
be done.

I use Agent 1.93 for my primary access (this group, the MS Server) and
I also use Outlook Express for another server. Works great.
