I currently use Mozilla Thunderbird to view all of my newsgroups. Is
this the best program for doing this? If not what is a better or
another good free porgram for viewing newsgroups.

After a few adjustments Gravity works very well for me.

My impression is that TB is often considered ok for
newsreading but not the best. There are four I often heard of
as better: Agent, Gravity, Xnews, and 40TubeDialog

It depends on what you need. Xnews is what I use and have yet
to find anything quite as good as it is for my purpose: very
fast, full keyboarding support, good posting features, good
filtering/scoring post system and quite customizable
interface. The only draw back of it for some people is that
it is more designed for non-binary group reading and on-line
(not off-line) newsreading. However, if you want a fast
newsreader with rich features, Xnews is certainly top on the
list. To make it into more an offline reader, some has use
Hamster as a local server to do it and it is in fact a great
combination.

I use and like Outlook Express and see no reason to change.
