News groups

Not sure if this is the proper forum, but it is related to Windows Mail.

It seems that Windows Mail is having trouble syncing with my ISP's news
server (Time Warner Road Runner, NC). Error I get when trying to load the
list of available groups is:

"An Unkown Error Has Occured"

Anyone else see this with Windows mail?
 
Hi Carlo,

Not unusual if there a lot of groups available. There are a lot of bugs
still in the newsreader area.

I have the same problem here in Denmark.

The workaround to access an individual NG is to use a URL as follows:

newsservername / newsgroup name

without the spaces. Click on such a URL and it will load it into WinMail
and then you can right click on it in the folder list to subscribe to it.

Hmmm, that's an interesting solution, I haddn't even thought to use the news
URL... thanks for the tip there. Hopefully it's not an issue for the final
shipping product ;)
