Neworking setup for my new DSL provider

I just switched DSL providers. The old service was ADSL and I used a Netopia
R7200 SDSL router (with 8 port switch). The new service is ADSL via PPPoE and
came with a 2WIRE ADSL wireless router.

The problem is, the new router only has one Ethernet port. My house is wired and
I don't want to retrofit every machine in the house.

Can use the two routers together? Should I just buy an ADSL router with 8 ports?
Should I buy an Ethernet router with 8 ports and use that to share the
connection from the 2WIRE?

What's my best course of action, short of buying cards for every PC and laptop
in the house (7)?

Unless the router you named is something truly bizarre then you don't need
and can't really use another router -- what you need is an ethernet hub or a
switch. They are available in sizes ranging from 4 to 32+ ports and in speed
ranges up to gHz ethernet. You wouldn't need the latter to share an internet
connection but it might come in handy for file transfers among machines. Of
course this would call for rewiring the whole house with CAT-6 cabling and
connectors so you might want to settle for a simple cheap 10/100 switch with
enough plugs to satisfy your needs. Of course I'm assuming that the single
ethernet port you described on the 2WIRE isn't the one that connects to the
modem in which case all bets are off and you will need to start looking into
a wireless bridge unit to hook up to your switch. YMMV of course but it is
hard to understand why you let your ISP give you the 2WIRE in the first
place if you didn't have any interest in wireless.

Yeah, I figured that out last night, and I'm using the old router as a switch.
YMMV of course but it is hard to understand why you let your ISP give
you the 2WIRE in the first place if you didn't have any interest in
wireless.

You can actually use the old router if you want (though it complicates
things a bit), just run it through the new one like you would a PC,
have your pcs go through the old one. Use different subnets, have the
old one connect to the one connect via DHCP, all should work as before
in theory. Clients get ips and dns info from old router's dhcp, which
in turn gets its "outside" ip and dns from the new router.
