We have 4 computers, 2 are Dell wunning WinXP, 1 is a HP running WinXP, and
1 is an older Acer PII 333mhz 256mb RAM, 30 gig HD running Win 2000. Since
the other desktops are not using their modems I wanted to put one of them in
my Acer to use as a Fax. The one I have is a Rockwell HCF 56K PCI modem.
I tried installing the modem from the Dell, which is a Broadcom BCM 94212/U,
and the modem from the HP, which is a Smart Modular Tech 90109-2. I could
not get the Acer to even recognize either the BCM or the Smart modems.
Neither could I find drivers for them. Is this a limitation of the Acer or
am I doing something wrong? It wont be the first time.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mark
