NewDotNet Removal Kills Network Connection?

I just used MS AntiSpy to remove "NewDotNet Browser
PlugIn" from a user's machine and now she has no network
connection.

I see in a couple places that loss of network can easily
result from removal of this spyware. (ex:
http://www.antisource.com/article.php/newdotnet)

Anyone else having this problem?

Yes, this is wellknown and MS has released this kb about this
and also for some other spyware removals which can cause this.

If you don't happen to be on XP SP2, there's a third party app which can be
easier to user than following the KB routines:

http://www.iup.edu/house/resnet/winfix.shtm

If the machine is running XP-SP2 then click on "start - run" and type in
"netsh winsock fix" and hit "OK". Then reboot.
If it's not SP2, then you can download LSPFIX from
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and run that.
