I have 3 sites. I want the local computers (some win98)
to log into the local dc and the remote computers to log
into the remote dc. There are instances when some of the
local computers will log into the remote DC.

I am not sure how to set up the site links between the 3.
Right now I have only 1 site link with all three sites in
it. Should I break it up?

Thanks.

Since Win9x computers are not *AD* clients, they will logon using NTLM
authentication protocol and use WINS as the DC locator.

Even the installation of the AD client won't change this behaviour - Win9x
isn't *site-aware* and even the addition of the AD Client doesn't change
this for logon.

Unless you have IP/DNS clients (AD-Aware) in your network, such as Windows
2000 and beyond, site links don't matter - except for things like DFS. The
logon process for downlevel clients hasn't changed all that much.

The Active Directory Client Upgrade makes Win9x clients
site aware but does not make them full AD clients, e.g.,
NO Group Policy support.

It also makes them away that multi-master (possibly local)
changes are possible and removes their dependendence on
the PDC (Emulator) for all changes, e.g., changing computer
password.)

According to Dave Shaw the AD Client doesn't make 9x
clients "Site Aware" but Herb says that it does make them
site aware? Are there 2 different AD Client Upgrades?

Thanks
