Being new to this, I have a few of questions.

How do I remove an unwanted section from the middle of a clip? I can see
how to trim the ends and keep the middle but what about the reverse? At the
moment, I am splitting the clip at each end of the part to be removed, which
makes it a separate clip, and then deleting it.
Is this the easiest way?

Secondly (and less hopefully), has anyone found a way to capture to
Moviemaker from the Pinnacle DC10plus card?

Thirdly. I read that to add music from a cd, it must be ripped to the pc
first; but for adding a commentary isn't there a drop-down box which
allows you to select the input device and thereby use the line-in rather
than the microphone? I presume that this would then preclude you from
adding a commentary as well.

Any help much appreciated.

Geoff.

Regarding your first question, yes, the only way I know of is to split the
clip at the beginning of the unwanted bit, and do a start point trim on the
second half of the split.

Regarding your third question; I dont think there's a difference.

You can even select CD Audio in that drop-down box; but the outcome is still
a generated .WMA file. Maybe it's of a worse quality, and maybe it isn't - I
never compared. But you should do what's most comfortable for you, because
it looks as though both options are kosher.

As for your first question, adding to what you and KGK said, there's another
option which is less comfortable, but sometimes better. Say that the
unwanted segment is between 0:03:04 and 0:03:08. You want to delete four
seconds.

What I'd do is do a split point at around 03:06, then drag the trimline on
the first part to 0:03:04, and on the second part to 0:03:08. This way, if I
discover that the first part ends a frame too early, I still have control of
the trimline, and I can re-move it one frame forward.
