Hello All!
I'm not really a network guy, but I have been asked to do the following. My
client has a Windows 2000 SP4 DC. There is a new server, Windows 2003 Server,
I need to make that my new DC. It's a small network, 30-40 users.
What is the best way to go about this, and good tech docs would be great.
Any gotcha's I need to be aware of.

TIA!

Rudy

Build the new machine and join the domain, run forest and domain prep,
dcpromo. This is a simple breakdown on what needs to be done. Once the
promo is done you will need to get dns on the new server if it exist on the
old dc along with other services, such as dhcp, wins, etc... You will also
need to make the dc a global catalog server. Transfer FSMO roles. Finally
demote the old server
