I've just created a slide show. Everything works fine except I'd like to
have a sound file (the same one) play in the background all through the
show. So far all I've been able to figure out is how to do is add a sound
to each individual slide.
Would somebody help me out? I have the Office XP version of Powerpoint.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

It shouldn't require a plug-in (even a FREE one), to do this in PowerPoint.
By default an inserted sound will play for the current slide only. To get
a sound to play for more than the current slide you have to adjust the
animation settings for the sound.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions as to how
PowerPoint might change it's features for playing "background" sound, don't
forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

I'm glad you got it working. I'd like to know what plug-in you needed, as
PowerPoint does not require a plug-in for playing sounds.

Thank you! I finally made it work. Takes a plugin but it was free.

Music Span: add-in for PowerPoint
It worked, kinda. But anyway I found another application (Photodex ProShow)
that does exactly what I want.

No, no plug-in required. Shyam's addin makes it simpler but you can do the job
w/o it.
