~~Alan~~

I am learing how to use ADS and have a question about publishing printers.

My test environment consists of a W2k server and a W2k Pro workstation. I
have a printer connected to the parallel port on the server and I want to
publish it in my directory and make it available to my workstation. I have
also shared out this printer as \\server\Print_service.

I am able to create new computers, users, and folder shares, but not printer
shares. Can someone give me cookbook type instructions on how to publish a
printer.

Thank you,
~Alan

Publishing a printer in AD will not make it automatically available to your
users. Printer published in AD is just a record for the clients to find it
using AD search tools. Printers are normally automatically published to AD.
You can see the printers, that belong to particular server if you turn on
the "Show Computers,Users as containers" option in View menu in AD Users and
Computers.
To make printers available to your clients, use logon script to
automatically connect them during logon process.
