Newbie question: Publisher 2000 to FP2000 problems

I am trying to create my first website using MS Office (I have created one
before using Zyworld's web-based site creation tools). I started it off in
Publisher 2000 because I liked its Southwest template better than the rather
dull ones in FP2000. But Publisher only allows you to have one screenful of
information on each page and creates a new page for any overspill. I didn't
want this for my site, so I imported it into FP2000, so that I could create
pages which scroll down. But in doing so, I messed up the formatting,
particularly on the homepage, which now contains a large blank space on the
right-hand side of the screen, making the screen about twice as wide as it
should be. Moreover, it won't let me correct it, I try to drag the right-hand
margin to where it should be, and nothing happens, Erm...help?

Yah, don't use Publisher to create pages...doesn't do a really good job. You CAN try saving the Publisher created page as HTML to a folder outside of FP, then Import that page into FP.

However, I've never really been happy with the results (results that endup needing a lot of cleaning up) so it's usually best to just create the page in FP.

Publisher should NOT be used for developing web pages ... when it does the
code is terribly bloated and it is very hard to work with.... as you found
out! Use FrontPage ... that is what IT is supposed to do!

Thing is, I really like the look of the pages I started to create in
Publisher. How difficult would it be to emulate a Publisher web theme
(in this case, Southwest) in FP2000?

Nick,

There is nothing to prevent you from using the elements you created for Publisher for an FP web, just use the Publisher page as a guide/scratch sheet. Import the images into FP, and use them to recreate what you did in Publisher. You'll be much happier doing it this way in the long run.
