Hi.

VERY new user to MS word (2000) and I would like to know how I can assign a
keyboard shortcut to automatically enter a word at the cursor position.

For instance, I would like to assign ATL+T to insert the name Trevor where
the cursor currently is.

Please can someone explain to this newbie in layman's terms how to do that?

Mike.

Well, you could create an AutoText entry of the name Trevor and assign it to
Alt+T, but this really isn't a good idea (Alt alone should really be
reserved for menu accelerator keys). Why not create an AutoCorrect entry
instead? See http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customization/AutoCorrect.htm. You
could assign the entry Trevor to, say /t or *t or any other combination
you're not likely to press in ordinary typing.
