I familiar with VB6 installation nighmares, and I'm starting to migrate to

First. tell us if you're talking about Windows or web applications.
In general, the Setup and Deployment project type, which can be added to an
existing solution
(New Project->Other Project Types->Setup and Deployment) is one way. Also
check articles on XCopy Deployment.
