How many fans do i need for a P 4 2.8 ghz system with a workstation class
quadro fx 1000 card and 1 gb of ram?
I will also be including two hard drives.

Thanks
Alan

Stock OEM cooler for the CPU and 1 exhaust case fan does the trick for me
(ATI 9700 the only difference) 2x WD80gig room temp avg, 78f

Can't comment on the 'quiet' stuff as my computer / video/audio editing
room is as loud as a arcade, but more fans= more noise. if you buy a
'retail' boxed P4 then yes it comes with a H eatS inkF an. You can run 2
case fans if you want..one pulling in from the front and one exhausting out
the rear. Water cooling is extreme..mostly used when seriously over-
clocking, not for the novice. Water and electricity never goes well
together.

For most apps I use the CPU fan and one rear fan. When playing games, I
overclock the videocard and turn on the front case fan (added a switch to
the rear of the case). If I wasn't overclocking the videocard I wouldn't
have worried about the front fan as the CPU temps are fine without it. BTW
I'm running the FSB at 150 instead of 133 too.

Thanks.. Is that CPU cooler a fan, does it come with the INTEL CPU? I
thought most people say you need 2 case fans. How about water cooling? Is
it generally quieter?

Get yourself a big hicap CPU cooler, like the AMDcrowd, overclockers
and benchmarkers use. If you're concerned about noise, get a silent
one. Zalman works for me. If you're using a silent powersupply, you
should also put in an extra evacuation fan. There's silent such too,
Papst works for me. My last system is a XP3000+. I paid some attention
to the noiselevel of PS, cpu fan, evac fan and it worked out fine.
It's quite silent and nice to work with. You don't need watercooling
to get a silent PC.

(I recommend a hi capacity cpu fan because I suspect 'silent' P4's
with small capacity coolers may throttle.)

you would probably get away with jus two case fans in the front of you pc to
blow cool air in, because the P4 CPUs can run without the cpu cooler because
they can detect when they are getting hot and will slow themselves down to
compensate.

But you should also get an extractor fan for the rear of your pc to take the
hot air from around the graphics card.
