Hi everyone,
First up, appologies for this not being directly Windows DNS related,
but I can't find a more appropriate group to ask!!
The short-ish story: My domain name "clickindustrial.com" was with
ActiveISP as was/is my web hosting & email. According to WHOIS at the
time, the name servers were:
DNS10.ACTIVEISP.COM
DNS11.ACTIVEISP.COM
DNS12.ACTIVEISP.COM
So next, I transfered to domain to Just-The-Name.co.uk (JTN). Soon after
the transfer, because the name servers were changed to:
DNS0.GETSURFED.COM
DNS1.GETSURFED.COM
I get JTN's standard web holding page, and email forwarded via JTN. All
to be expected. Now, I had been planning to simply point it back at the
original name servers (once I'd found out how --
http://tinyurl.com/37bex), but was advised by ActiveISP that I need to
use these name servers:
DNS20.ACTIVEISP.COM 213.188.128.38
DNS21.ACTIVEISP.COM 213.180.68.231
So thats what I did. But now, if I try to access my web page, I get
nothing. If I try to send myself test email, it seems to just disappear
(although its only been approx. 24hrs, so I might yet get a failed
response).
I _believe_ the problem is that DNS20/21.ACTIVEISP.COM name servers *do
not* have any records for the domain clickindustrial.com as I've tried
querying them using dig.
So am I correct in thinking I should change the name servers back to
DNS10/11.ACTIVEISP.COM ?
Also, can anyone explain why when I look at whois info for
clickindustrial.com it still shows the JTN name servers
DNS0/1.GETSURFED.COM, but when I try to access them via HTTP for
example, they can't be found? I would've expected it still to hit the
JTN holding page until such time as the new DNS10/11.ACTIVEISP.COM
domain servers were updated!
Any help greatly appreciated especially on *how* to diagnose the situation!!
TIA!
