4 days into XPe, I've managed to create a bootable CD. But that's just the
problem, it boots and runs off of the CD. How do I get it to load onto a new
machine (contains an unpartitioned HDD)?

I'll keep searching in this NG, but if someone could chime in I would really
appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
-Bobby

Are you trying to make installation CD?

Thanks for the response.

I'm really just the initial phase of producing an Embedded system, so I'm
not sure what we'll end up with as far as distribution. One thought is to
produce an installation CD that contains all of the components (hardware &
software) and use that to mass produce the end product. So yea, that would
be great.

On the other hand, I would be happy to be able to boot WinPE and somehow lay
down the OS & software from the network. Actually, I've gotten this to work
with only one small problem - the HDD doesn't boot. I've tested the image,
and drive C: get's laid down, but it behaves like it's missing the boot
strap.

So, I'm trying for either an install disk or a network installation process.
Personal opinions are encouraged.

What is the error reported?

Simple start is to make NTFS partition, and make it active.
Copy all files to partition, and that is it, with little luck :)

I think I have found my problem. Using sdimgr to move the files to the
appliance un-activated the partition. I simply ran diskpart after the move
and activated the partition, re-boot, and everything is grand.

What about creating an install CD? It is not in the critical path at the
moment, but I know eventually we would like to be able to ship something
that would install.

Thanks again,
-Bobby
