Athena

I need help on where to connect 5 connectors to a k7s5a motherboard, the
manual is not very clear on these connections. The wires are from the case
not to sure on exact model as i was giving it, all i know is it says atx on
the inside and has 7 bays in total. I have searched lots of sites without
success

the connecters are labelled as follows

power sw ( red, white wires) two holes
power sw ( red, white wires) two holes
reset sw (white, blue wires) two holes
hdd led (orange, white wires) two holes
power led (green, white wires) three holes

judging from the manual they are supposed to connect to FP1 which has a row
of 4 pins on top and a row of five on the bottom but the instruction are
very vague as to what needs to go where

Any help would be appreciated

I am not familiar with that board but that connector on most board are
marked.
they are usually connect horizontally and the connector is usually in the
bottom right.
recheck your manual for directions

Hi Athena

the pins are numbered 1 to 9 , (10 being blank )

1-2
3-4
5-6
7-8
9- blank

HDD LED pins 1 and 3
Reset sw pins 5 and 7
Power sw pins 6 and 8

Not sure why you have two power switches, but whatever it is,try it on pins 2
and 4!!

There is no pins for your Power led, so you will have to leave it off.Hope
this helps.

Err... 2 & 4 are for the Power Led you thought you didn't have. :)

Anthea said that her power led had three holes, how do you get it on to two
pins, without cutting it in half?

Many motherboards have a second connector nearby to accommodate a three-hole
power LED connection. A couple I've had didn't even mention that fact in the
manual, but close examination of microscopic print on the boards uncovered the
"secret."

No, Athena said the Power Led connector had three holes. Pins 2 & 4 on
the motherboard are for the Power Led. No amount of trying other
connectors for power switches or whatever is going to change that fact.
:)

Anyway, chances are that the case connector had three holes, but only 2
wires (one green and one white). All that is required is to prize the
wires out of the connector and then place them next to each other and
that way you can place the connector onto the 2 pins as required. This
is how I have had to do it with my K7S5A board and case connector. If
you get it wrong the first time then leave the one wire in the centre of
the connector and move the other wire to the hole on the other side of
the connector and try again. That's all it requires.

Fair comment, and good advise.
