Hope I'm in the right forum. When I copy a website page,
then open Word to paste the copied wesite page, Paste is
grayed out and the clipboard pops up but it does not
contain my saved page. I'm sure I need to just change a
little something, but what something is beyond my
expertise. Can someone help me? Also, if I am in the
wrong forum, would someone be kind enough to direct me to
the correct place? Thank you very much, Jo

How are you copying the web page (highlighting text)? Does the page consist
of text and graphics? Do you want all of the items on your Word document?
Is the web page copyright protected? If so, stop here! HA!

More than likely you aren't copying it correctly. If it contains both text
and graphics and all you want is the image, press ALT-PRINTSCREEN to copy
the web page, switch to Word, and either press CTRL-V to paste it, or
"Edit", "Paste Special", then choose a format that works.

Also possible that the page is an ASP concoction, in which case the
displayed text isn't necessarily 'there' to be copied.

Jo,
Word was only intended to create web pages for an intranet.
Word was NOT intended for viewing or editing web pages.

If the page your are attempting to save was created primarily for retrieval
from a Word created web page to a Word Document, than you won't have any
problem doing what you desire.

If the web page was created by a PROPER method, than you are going to have
problems pulling that data into Word.

Why not just use Internet Explorer and select SAVE AS?
Then edit the saved page as you desire with NOTEPAD?

BTW the proper forum for Word Web pages is
microsoft.public.word.web.authoring

Sometimes on the toolbar in Internet Explorer you can
find a button that says 'Edit with <program>' It mostly
says 'Edit with Word/Notepad/FrontPage'. Just click
the 'Edit with Word' option (possibly select from drop-
down list) and the page will be opened for you in Word.

Although lostinspace is correct in saying that Word was
never intended as an html editor, I use the
aforementioned technique regularly and seldom have a
problem. Note that it does take a while and there is
usually a lot of cleaning up to do!!

Hello Candice,
Using Word for such things just isn't a priority
for me. I've both seen and experienced the results of using Word in anything
related to websites and at least on my end, all is does is cause more work.

BTW, with IE open, if you select VIEW/ SOURCE,
The page will (in most instances [some webmasters don't care for this and
have added Java restrictions, not very smart of them]) open in NotePad.
With NotePad open you may pretty much do what you desire.

I'm not adverse to making things easier for people, however using Word for
ANYTHING related to web pages is NOT a good practice (except in very and
rare special instances.)
