Hello,
I am thinking about buying a new desktop (DELL - they appear to be the best
value - as far as I can tell). I have a question regarding FSB speed - some
systems are rated at 533MHz & higher end systems are rated at 800MHz. But
the highest rated RAM is at 400MHz. So I am confused as to what advantage
the 800MHz FSB provides?

Thanks in advance
Joseph

Ram is run at 400Mhz double pumped, 400 X 2 =800. So the ram does take
advantage of the 800Mhz bus. Actually I believe with Intel it is actually
the ram is 20Mhz Quad pumped.

The computer's front side bus actually runs at 200MHz, but the Intel CPU in
those systems is internally quad-pumped up to 800 MHz. So the 400 MHz RAM
you describe is actually running at twice the bus speed, as it should. Go
for it :)
