Hi I am looking at using BCM as our contact management system, and
waondering if some users would be give me the benefit of their experience

We run an SBS2003 R2 server with SQL2000 SP4 installed. We have five users
in the office and all would need to have access to the data.

We currently use an Access database for our contacts - we have approx 60,000
whom we contact 2/3 times a year usually with an emailed newsletter. The
database sits on our server and each user connects from an Access front end
running from their local machine.

What would be the best configuration given that we need to store the data on
the server, but this needs to be available in each local users version of
Outlook

What is the performance like

Thanks

Alex

Alex:

It sounds like BCM 2007 would work just fine for you. You'll need to load
BCM on your SBS so that SQL Server 2005 Express can get installed. For five
users, that should work fine, or you can use SQL Standard.

Each user will connect from their PC and if you want them to work offline
(local) then choose to create an offline copy when they first connect. They
can set the Sync Options to hourly or daily and their offline copy will sync
up just fine. Depending on the speed of your LAN and hardware, you could do
well with everyone working online and connected to the master database.

When you first create the master db on your SBS, tell BCM that you want to
Share the database and choose their domain logins from the dialog. That's
about all that's needed.

HTH,
Lon
