yes, this is my first pc, and I am flying blind--no previous experience
and no one to help me when I am in a fix- so here goes--I know what the
top cd holder on the tower is for-but for the life of me I can't figure
out what the one below it is for. I have an e-machines 3200 with 160gb
hard drive, 512 mb ddr, 16 x double layer drive-I have nero so I know
how to burn cds and dvds-but I only have used the top disk drawer for
this.. can someone tell me about this ?I really am afraid to do too
many things without asking for help first--I really don't want to mess
up!!!!!

Presumably your PC came with a manual or user guide?

Some computers do come with two CD/DVD drives. Does the second
drawer actually open? If so then it is another drive of some type and
should be listed in "My Computer".

Also many manufacturers make provision for a second drive to be
installed in their computers and have a "dummy" drive front cover in
the place where the second drive would go, just to fill in the space.
In that case pushing on the drawer button will not do anything.

p.s. there are no really stupid questions. All of us were beginners
at one time.

Good luck

Peter- thanks for the link-I went there and found just what I needed to
know. I was just afraid to try anything until l knew the exact function
of that tray. It turns out to be what I thought, but I am new and need
encouragement from time to time. And would you believe I never found a
manual in my box when I bought my computer, --my husband and I just
assumed (stupid stupid stupid!!!!) that the manufacturer thought
everybody knows what they are doing before they buy Well not me- I
bought-fooled around --and learned by doing. It has been a trip!!!!
Anyway, thanks a bunch for the link!!!

It's probably electronic - either installed on the machine or on a CD....
