Hi

How do I delete items from the New submenu in Windows? (the one that you can get
to by right-clicking on the desktop or in a window) I found the registry key
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Discardable\PostSetup\Sh
ellNew and deleted some items, which worked the first time I right-clicked, but
then they were restored the next time.... I want something more permanent...

David,

Obtain and install the Windows XP version of TweakUI. Download it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP).

NOTE:
Without using TweakUI, you may need to delete the registry entries manually.

HKCR\.xxx\ShellNew
(xxx is the file type)

and

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Discardable\PostSetu
p\ShellNew

NOTE: Before editing the registry, always backup the appropriate registry
key.

Goto Templates tab in TweakUI and remove the shellnew entries there.
