Hi I just recently migrated to XP SP2 from Win 98. Basic info: My
computer is an AMD 64 3700+, 525 DDR RAM Machine with a Sony 40x plus
CD/RW drive.

My problem is this: All my Software Install Disks aren't auto running,
my music CDs do not auto play. The same brand and model CD/RW would auto
run software and auto play music disks on my old computer. Somehow I
must have missed a configuration option. There's nothing in my system
BIOS for autoplay/run of cd drives. In My Computer, I did find a tab
relating to auto play under the CD/RW disk's Properties. I thought I
set it up correctly, but still no desired results. :-(

Thanks, Rich I'll give it a try. I got a book at Barns & Noble called
"Windows XP Troubleshooting" , by Stuart Yarnold. He also mentions a
Registry value off a key that can be edited. I took a look and mine has
the proper value a "binary" 91. In addition he mentions that some CD
burning software can set up a block to autoplay working during burn.
Some don't correctly unblock the function. He says that Roxio is one of
the common culprits. I use Nero, and InCD. I'm going to try
uninstalling InCD which takes over the disk insert and asks "format or no?".

Removing InCD did the trick. I have autoplay working again! :-)
