Just installed XP pro on a HP vectra vl400 (intel's home PC gift). After install, the Windows Graphic appears for a few seconds then black screen, then....nothing.

I tried:
Removing all PCI cards except the video
Turing off AUto USB in the bios
Unplugged all unneccesary connections

Suggestions ?

Try reinstalling with only the video, mouse and keyboard. Looking on the HP
web site, I couldn't find anything that fit your situation.

Try hitting F8 when booting just before the windows screen and try safe mode... Once I had an nvidia mx440 graphics card, windows did not like. Replaced the graphics card with an ATI (el cheapo circuit city) windows worked and completed its install. Then once installed and running i swapped cards and installed the right drivers from nvidia's web site. I returned my card ATI. You might need to reinstall windows also. Good luck!
