Have any of you techs seen or heard of this??

--> FIX OFFERED FOR INTERNET EXPLORER VULNERABILITY
A patch has been posted on the Web for a serious flaw in
Internet
Explorer. The flaw would allow a trusted URL to show up
in the address
bar, while you are taken to a dangerous site. Microsoft
has not yet
posted a fix for the flaw. The patch was written by
Openwares.org.
It's at: http://security.openwares.org/

The issue, yes. Seems very minor and of no consequence. How often do you click links for your bank on unknown web sites. If the answer is more than 0 then you deserve what happens.

I've heard about it. And it does work (I tested it on their site, running IE
6). Checked windowsupdate...oops, there were a couple critical patches, but
nothing about IE. Not sure whether or not to install this third party patch
though...

I agree with you guys. I just can't see installing a
third party patch for the OS, unless I knew that it
passed MS testing.
Thanks, I was just curious.

It's a pretty serious flaw though...hope MS comes out with a patch soon. I can
imagine that paypal scam fooling a LOT more people if they used this.
