Hi folks,
I would be so grateful for your help.

Since installing the GeForce FX5700VE video card my monitor "crashes" after I log into windows.

My computer is AMD Athlon(TM) XP 2200+

1.80GHz, 224MB of RAM.
PSU is 250W
The Motherboard is ASUS A7N266-VM with onboard Nvidia graphics.
OS is Windows XP

I have installed the new graphics card in the AGP (4X) slot.
I have disabled the onboard graphics by uninstalling the drivers, and have set the Onboard VGA BIOS update to "Disabled" in BIOS.
In BIOS I have also set the primary VGA to "AGP" instead of "onboard".

I have downloaded and installed the Nvidia driver (which Nvidia identified) for graphics card Geforce FX5700. The download is saved as a folder named 93.71 in C:\NVIDIA\Win2KXP, and I used this specific folder when installing (Because Windows could not find it)

I restarted my computer and it seemed to start correctly, but after loading the desktop the screen flickered and went black.

Please help!

I was wondering:
i)Is the FX5700VE compatible with the A7N266-VM motherboard?
ii) Should I change/update any other BIOS settings?

Any suggestions would be most gratefully received!
Cheers

Your power supply may not be adequate to run with the new card.
Is the bus connector and such inserted correctly and in the right place?

Hi!, thanks for replying to my call for help!
About the power supply I was searching a forum in which this was discussed, and a member stated that 250W was adequate for the FX5700VE.

About the bus connector, I don't know how to check this. My system works fine with the onboard graphics though, what should I check to make sure this is ok for the new card?

Many thanks!

So it's just after windows logon your monitor turn black..correct?

If it is, try to load windows in VGA mode. Win logon as a lower resolution (think is 800x800) if your computer resolution is set to high for your card, that's what happened.
