I have installed the new version of microsoft beta. I keep getting a message
saying that the version has expired as of july 31st 2006. I have used
ccleaner.com, i have updated. I cannot get in to use it.

1) check your system date and time (I know, you already did, but I have to
say that on the off chance that it really IS the issue.)

2) go to the long and short date formats for your locale--in the Windows
control panel.

Set both of these to the topmost settings on the dropdown boxes. Setting
these to the default topmost setting should fix this issue.

I too, recieved this same message, downloaded the update, and still
get the same message. How do I find the long and short dates? I didn't
know this feature was in my control panel.

How do I know if I have the latest version ? The one I currently have
installed says, this version will expire in July of 2006. Is this the latest
version ?

Hi Diana Jean;
Welcome to the MSAS Beta forum.
Regional & Language Options > Regional Options tab > click Customize

If you go to Help, about, within Microsoft Antispyware, the version number
should be 1.0.701.

The expiration date you cite tells me that you are on the latest version,
but it is possible that there will be newer versions eventually with the same
date--so going to Help, About is the proper way to be sure.

My apologies for not being clearer in the message you've replied to about
how to find these date formats. They are rather buried, and I've resisted
creating cut and paste text for this answer for some reason--so every time I
post it I had to go back and look it all up again.....

This is what I have,

version # 1.0.701 message reads, please see
microsoft
deff. ver. 5786 for updated version. product
version
instal. 12/19/05 expires on 07/31/2996
expi. 7/31/06
ID 75831-00-0000012-00123

I hope there are some typos there. The definition version should be an odd
number, and the expiration date probably indicates that you still need to
reset the date formats to the defaults.

sorry, the version #1.0.701 , the deffinition version is 5785 , and it
expires on
07/31/2006 , the product ID # 76831-00-0000012-00123.

glad to partipate, thanks

That sounds perfect!

I think you are in good shape. The bugs with regard to date formats and
time formats really are embarassing, but they won't be there with beta2, and
they don't have sufficient functionality impact to warrant fixing--i.e. they
can be worked around, so they aren't going to get fixed before beta2.

On the Windows 2000 machine, the so called short date in
"Settings/Control Panel/Regional Options/Date", is: d/MM/yyyy

On the Windows XP machine To open the Regional and Language Options tool: Click
Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options, and then click Regional and
Language Options.
To change one or more of the individual settings, click Customize.

NOTE: The location selection that you make includes default display options for
the way dates, times, and numbers are displayed.

Thanks for that imformation. I was looking on this site for that option. It
didn't dawn on me that it was a control panel option. I feel silly.

Thanks for that imformation. I have never had to set date, time, and
language options on my pc's. They were always acurate when I
purchased them. So I wasn't familiar with it. But now, if I ever do need
to reset them, I will know how. I always like learning something new.
