John

Well,

The cookie cleaning function deleted all my cookies - that should eliminate
2 or 3 hundred complaints a day around here!

Now I have to go back and setup all my cookies again.

Hi Bill,

It wasn't there after I updated.

The Cookie process was removed under "scan processes" in the Interface after
updating. Did I do something wrong or are you and John being factious?

don't say stupidities because MSAS still doesn't have a
cookie scanner

Actually, I was only commenting on the Tracks Cleaner function - don't know
if it deleted your cookies before but I couldn't wait to stir up a fuss!

Thanks for responding Bill,

You succeeded! The Tracks Eraser feature is a piece of the product I've
avoided testing completely. I don't know whether or not it was touched for
this release--I'd be surprised if it had been.

I've never had a good experience with track erasers and just delete the
tracks I'm familiar with manually. Found it's actually quicker than
going through a track list and selecting/unselecting items.

The tracks cleaner for cookies does actually warn you not
to use it if you want to retain some cookies (highlight
the item, read info to the right).

I use Spybot for that purpose (it has an option to mark
specific cookies to be retained).

It also advises you -
". . . instead use the Spyware Scan to locate any
hazardous cookies that may be infriging on your privacy"

Is this loose terminology or in readiness for the cookie
scanning version ?

Tom

Looks like I should export my cookies again just to be safe. Doesn't that
sound like geek-drunk? "I got so bombed I had to go to the bathroom and
export my cookies..."

I use the "Erase Tracks" feature daily. I do not have it touch cookies
though, since it doesn't have a blacklist/whitelist feature like SpySweeper
does. But I do have it erase other tracks, and it works great. Especially
since it will at least remember what tracks I have checked. Though it would
be nice if it had a way to automatically keep curtain tracks clear ALL the
time. Or in other words, a way to disable the ability to even have some of
the tracks that are a part of windows and programs to begin with.

Mostly automatic cookie erasing with blacklist/whitelist feature would be
great.
