I setup a new user through computer management. I'm logged in as an
administrator. The account creates, but the Profile in Documents and
Settings will not create. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this?
System setup is two PCs with XP Pro SP2 on a home hardwire network through a
SBC DSL modem router. The PC I setup the new user will not create a profile.
The second PC will setup the new user including the profile. I've compared
settings between them and I'm baffled by this. Any help suggestions
appreciated.

Have you logged in as the new user yet? You should try to do this. Or,
if you are getting an error message about not Windows not being able to
create the new user, what is the text of that error message?

Thanks for the reply. When I log in as the new user I get a message saying
"windows cannot find the profile contact your administrator". When you check
Documents and Settings in Explore the profile is not there. I've setup a ton
of users and this is my first encounter with this problem.

Anyother insight appreciated. I'm continuing to play with this problem to
see if i can stumble upon the cause. Future suggestions appreciated.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you then. I'm sure someone else
will come along with one, though. Hang in there and I'm sorry I
couldn't help.

Thanks for your help. I answered no to the survey question but I really
appreciated your assistance. Sometimes wierd things happen. If I somehow
find the cause I'll post it.

Just for the heck of it us runas from the command line and see it that
creates the user profile directory. If there isn't one it should create
one. Another thing to try is use a roaming profile directory.

I have had that exact problem many times before. I can't recall exactly what
I did to remedy this problem, but I did write it down in my support
documentation. My server is temporarily out of service for about an hour
(power failures are not fun!), but after I am able to use it again, I will
post back.
