I really hope that I don't sound like too much of an idiot here... :)

I have a Dell that's a couple of years old, that was running on Windows
Professional 2000. I really like using my friends' XP, so I installed XP on
my computer. I followed the directions, and I'm not really sure how this
happened, but now I have both XP and Pro 2000 on my computer, and it asks me
which OS I would like to use every time I start the computer. That doesn't
but me so much, even though I'd like to fix it, but my main trouble is that I
can't get XP to recognize my modem. I know that it's working properly,
because when I switch over to Pro 2000, I can connect to the internet through
there. I've tried everything that HELP in XP suggested, but I can't fix it.
When I go to install the modem through XP, the system doesn't even recognize
that there's a modem there, and when it asks me to select the modem from a
list of manufacturers, there aren't any modems listed, just a bunch of
"Standard" modems, none of which will work once I configure them. I really
hope there's someone out there who can help me! Thanks!

lillybellis:

Visit the Dell website and download Windows XP drivers for the Motherboard
chipset, and for the modem. Install the Mobo drivers, then the modem
drivers.
