I just purchased a new USB cable so I could have an extra one in my camera
bag and one home with the computer. I have a fuji finepix S7000 and the cord
is an A to a mini B it has nob things at each end of the cable called
ferreties ( looked these up you see but still don't have a clue) the
replacement cable I found from RCA dosent have any of these does it matter??
It would be for downloading pictures.

USB cables can have different connectors at one end. They are all the same
for connecting to a computer (the computer end connector) a flat thin
rectangular connector. However the other end (or connector) to fit in a
camera, scanner, printer can be different. Particularly with cameras. HP and
Olympus cameras need a particular connector. Sony and Minolta a different
one etc.. Scanners and printers a different one. I don't know about Fuji
camera. The main thing is, does the connector of the USB cable you
purchased fit into your camera? If is does, fine. If not, bring it back to
the store and bring your camera with you so you can get the proper cable,

Thank you so much for your information about my new cable. What do you know
about the nobs on each end of the original cable? They are called ferrites.
they have something to do about the transfere of data?? The RCA cord that I
purchased dosen't have them. I don'd have time to get an original Fuji one.
Couldn't you relate these cords or cables to the likes of an extension cord.
If it fits it will work??

The 'ferrite' cores around cables are an 'assist' from external
interference. You often find these cables supplied with equipment but they
are not readily available as replacement cables. I have never found a
problem using cables without ferrite cores but I suppose under certain
circumstances they help.
