New Updates for Installation

Yesterday I installed the new upates sent out by MSFT
before I signed off for the night. This morning, after the
computer had been re-booted from the update install
process, neither of my e-mail clients could connect to port
25 or 110. I was able to receive incoming mail by
configuring my incoming mail to connect via SSL set to port
995, but outgoing still wouldn't work. I went through 4
tech supports with Comcast - my ISP - when we narrowed down
the most likely cause of my problem to the installed
updates sent out by MSFT yesterday. I've done a system
restore to a point prior to the installation of those
updates, so e-mail is now working as it should; but it
would be nice if I could have the updates installed AND
have e-mail work properly, too. Does anyone have any
knowledge of this problem and / or any suggestions of how
to resolve this conflict. I use Outlook and Outlook
Express for my e-mail clients. Thanks in advance. Martin
