New UMPC Ultra-Mobile PC can be an opportunity for PC Gaming

It is a new form factor PC with a 7" touch screen monitor.
Obviously like any PC it cannot only be viewed as a gaming
machine but it has lots of possibilities to become a very
good alternative and competitor to the current mobile
consoles on the market.
What is the big advantage of the UMPC over portable consoles
It is the fact you do not need to buy software specifically
for it and you can use all you already have for your PC.
You buy a single unit of your favorite PC Game, you can play
it in your desktop PC but also you can try it out on your
own UMPC.
With the UMPC, the PC completes its full range of form factor
machines for all needs.
The traditional desktop for hard-core gamers
The Media Center for all family gaming
The notebook for the mobile gamers
and now the new Ultra-Mobile PC for the extra mobility.
The family is now complete and the possibility are great.
So lets hope everyone in this industry knows how to take full
advantage of it.

Cause the UMPC doesn't have a DVD-ROM drive it is important
developers realize they need to start doing more games with
the no need for disk to be inserted when playing.
You can install games or any software in a UMPC via external
USB DVD-ROM drive but you cannot ask users to have it pluged
everytime you want to use the software, so the importance of
PC Games not requiring the need for disk inserted when playing
is very big when using a UMPC.

Btw I'm still working on my list of PC Games with no need for
disk to be inserted which will be a great suggestion for all
those wanting to buy games that will run great in a UMPC.
The list will come soon to:

Samsung was the first manufacturer to release a UMPC
So you can check it out in this URL:
http://www.samsung.com/Products/UltramobilePC/UltramobilePC/NP_Q1_V000SEA.asp

Sill a little bit expensive but lets hope prices will go down.
If I had the cash I would sure buy one and try all my PC Games.

I would say the games more suited for the UMPC would be those
that do not need the disk inserted when playing and with a point
and click or simplified controls.

Again the PC proves to be the best and the only that gives the
more choice, freedom and power to the consumers.

LOL : "you can use all your existing SW". You're nuts.
the no need for disk to be inserted when playing.

You'll agree that Steam is the way to go then : which it is and what
anyone with any foresight can see in this age of wireless high bandwidth
rapidly descending on us.

you might also want to update your list with games that don't require a
cd and don't require a 3d card. basically you can play wolf3d on this
thing if you can get it to run on media center edition. this is
worthless for gaming.

An ideal world for a Company or Corporation, but what about the people
who pay the money.

Same as the housing rental market. Renting is great, until you are
older and have to survive for another 30 years in someone else's house,
dependent on other people's whims for 'value extraction'.

Just because groups could build housing to blot out the sun doesn't mean
that private ownership will become a silly concept.

Anyone here who feels a need to retain a control over their own affairs
will see that you appear to see things predominantly as a marketer (nice
word, that). Greg
