New to XP - question about application behavior with multiple users

I'm new to XP, having just bought a new computer to replace the
computer I had running Windows 98. I installed Winamp and it works
fine from my ID, which is the administrator ID. But if I try to tun
it from any other ID, I get the "Windows has encoutnerd an error and
needs to close" message. Winamp was installed to "c:\Program Files".
What is it about XP that makes running an application from different
users so difficult?
 
In general there are two possible causes for problems:
1. The application uses user-specific settings. These are missing when
you switch to another user of course. The problem also exists in
Windows 9x, however, most users did not use different user profiles in
these OS's. Reinstall the application from the user profile where it
does not work.

Well, it's not that, since I reinstalled the program on the user
inquestion. When the install finishes, it offers to run the program,
which it does successfully. Mnd you, since I ran the install as
administrator, I assume Winamp was still under administrator control
when it launched.
2. The user does not have sufficient rights for to run the application

I saw this before and was hoping there was another solution. So
either I change the user account or I give him my password to use
everytime he runs Winamp? Boy, that's UGLY. There's all two account
controls, limited access or administrator. Can't I have a third
choice?

I checked Winamp's web site and they claim that they support XP.
Maybe they're just thinking of XP Home.

I would contact their support staff. Maybe this is a known problem and
they already have a solution available for you. Since I do not use
WinAmp here I cannot reproduce the problem.
