Hi there,

Wondering if anyone can help. When you have captured your video and save
onto cd, how can you then watch it on a dvd player. I tried this last night
and only the directory came up??????????????????

BLANK..DVD-disks come in two FORMATS...Plus(+)..and DASH(-)...PLUS will only
play on a PC...DASH will play on just about every DVD-player....the New
DVD-Recorders will play a PLUS Disk also...<<but>>I have not seen one
operate....the new OPTICAL drives are mostly COMBO-drives/both/DASH and
PLUS/its a nice feature...When in Microsoft Windows Movie Maker 2...Fill your
STORYBOARD....use DRAG&DROP...its the same for the TIMELINE...and TRANSITIONS
and VIDEO EFFECTS....you may need to slow your progress as you reach near the
end of a large movie(things)start to get cramped(Auto-Recover)also tuns On
and Off(in the background)...just experiment....you'll need a DVD-decoder...I
reccomend CYBERLINK---Power DVDxp...its great....use MPEG-2 or MPEG-4...keep
your FILES in DV-avi format...for the MPEG-rendering...you can condence them
useing WMV-for archiveing LATER...High Quality(NTSC)wmv is best....Keep your
Movies below 55-minutes in length...that's about a 10-GB DV-avi FILE....I
think TDK makes the best blank disks....but IMMATION is very good....also
STAPLES is a nice disk....MAXELL(of course)...that's about IT...the rest is
HISTORY.

Saving to CD only saves the video file to a CD.
This will play just fine on another computer but is not recognized in a home
DVD Player.
What you need to do is save the project to your hard drive as a movie file
by pressing
CTRL+P to open the "Save Movie Wizard"
The resulting video file (either DV-AVI or WMV depending on your choices,
DV-AVI is best)
can be imported into a DVD Authoring program and from there you can create
either a VCD
if you don't have a DVD burner or a DVD if you do.
I have detailed tutorials on saving your movie as a DV-AVI and when not to
use that setting
as well as a list of some of the more popular DVD Authoring programs along
with tutorials on
my website.
