Got me a new box yesterday (Merry Christmas to me) and have been setting
it up (no OS box, clean install of W2K), got it AV'd and firewalled and
all the Windows Updates done, etc. Have been loading the old standbys,
and will be moving other apps and data from my old box as I take a
notion. I've been a die-hard W98se-er, but with this new machine, I knew
I had to take the plunge and either get with ntfs or Linux. Took the
easier way out, for now.

My main question is if there are any "must have" freeware programs out
there that would be applicable to W2K that would *not* have been needed
or applicable to W98se, which I would have skipped over or disregarded
in my reading of the group in the past.

And if anybody's got any good pointers about what kind of pitfalls or
problems I might run into as I'm learning my way around this new OS, I'd
appreciate that as well.

Keep a well sharpened axe around for *real* security enforcement. ;-)

Good luck.
