I have two tapes recorded using a Sony DSR-PD100A
camcorder. I also have a xp machine with moviemaker and a
svideo cable. I connected the cable to the computer and
camera. Started the tape playing. Moviemaker tells me that
a video capture device was not detected. Can you tell me
all that I have done wrong? Any help on doing it right. I
have tried the users manual for the camcorder and the
movie maker and I appear to brainless to figure it out.

Thanks

If the s-video connector on your PC is on your video
card, it's probably an output -- not an input. In
any case...

You really need to capture your video using your
DV camera's IEEE-1394 interface (also known as
iLink or FireWire). If your PC doesn't have an
IEEE-1394 capture card, you can easily add one
(assuming you have an available PCI slot).
