Hi,

I am an aspiring college student who aspires to be in web design. I am
still quite new to this space.
I just wanted your opinions. I was wondering which tools do you use in
your websites, and which one is your favorite, and why? I am looking
into starting learning another software, as right now I only use a
demo. Thanks!!!

I think you would do well to have a good graphics tool and know how to use
it. I like Fireworks and Ulead's PhotoImpact. Lots of people like
PhotoShop and there's also Expression Graphic Designer. What tool you use
depends on what you're most comfortable with. I like Fireworks because it's
great at "slicing" and I like PhotoImpact because it's so fast (Easy Palate
contains some killer presets).

Beyond the graphics tool a good editor is a must. Expression Web will work
fine for this purpose, but there's no shortage of HTML editors.

Then there's the standards and best practices, the CSS, and everything else.
Plus you'll have the distinct pleasure of working in a constantly changing
field. One thing I can guarantee you is that if you like web design, you'll
NEVER get bored.

One of my favorite reference sites is www.sitepoint.com you'll find plenty
of information on every aspect of the web design business.

Good luck with your endeavor! You'll have no other outcome than success as
long as you don't give up.

Don't learn the tools, learn the technology. Study HTML and CSS, and that
will make the tools a piece of cake.
