we have a domain and around 20 computers on this domain. last week, the
computers have gone into a "lock down" state. no user, including domain admin
logged in:

-can install/uninstall programs that use the windows installer

-there is nothing in the network connections window, if we click start and
search, nothing happens,

-word email editor for outlook does not work, gives a "Word is unavailable
or not installed" error message

-some of the options in Windows Help do not display anything.

from what i have read, it sounds like something happened to the group policy
and i was wondering if there is a way to remove it and create a new one based
off a default policy someplace.

i am new to group policies so i am not sure how or even if this is possible.

thanks!

Hi,

You should go to the Active directory users and computers ( start >
programs > administrative tools ) If you are there the first thing you
should check is if the domain has a policy. to do this right click on
your domain name and select properties. Go to the Group policy tab,
here you can disable, delete and create a new one. If no policies are
defined here then go to the OU where you’re users are in and do the
same.

btw what clients are you using (OS) and servers.

greets
