can you tell me where to begin? the store has a website that is 9 months
behind since the change in ownership. i think i should take the site down
temporarily then figure out what to do next. please help!

How about telling us what the domain name is? What you need to do will
depend on the complexity of the site and what tools you have available.
Since you posted this in a FrontPage newsgroup, I assume you have FrontPage.
Knowing which version would be helpfull.

yes i have front page version 2002. we have 2 domains, thequiltjunction.com
& quiltjunction.com

if you take it down will you know how to put it backup?

no, i thought i'd take it one step at a time. is there a way i can have one
page come up that says that we're under construction or something like that
without deleting everything else.

yah...rename you present home page the index page to something else, then
create a temporary index page named index.htm(l)

personally, unless the site is really wacked out, i'd leave it the way it is
and fix it as you go along.

Here's what I would do if I were you. First, leave the site up. It's no
worse than a million other small business sites out there. Second, reverse
publish the web site using FrontPage using the following steps.

1) Click File | Open Web and enter http://www.quiltjunction.com for location
and click Open. Enter the username and password used for authoring when
requested.

2) Click File | Publish Web and enter c:\frontpage webs\quiltjunction for
location, click the 'publish all pages' option and click Publish.

3) Exit FrontPage.

This will copy the entire web site to your PC. You can now use FrontPage to
make all the changes you need to update the site. When you are happy with
it, use the publish function to publish it to http://www.quiltjunction.com.
If you need additional help feel free to e-mail me privately.
