Someone sent me a blank slide as a ppt file and said we were to use that as the standard for a presentation. Several things happened. I saved it as a 'Blank Presentation.pot' and also saved it as a design template. I opened my already created presentation and tried to apply the design template but it won't change my existing format.
I decided to create a new blank presentation where I would cut n paste my content to new slides - however, when i add a new slide it just adds a slide with an old format. What can I do. Several people will be sending me thir slides and I am supposed to apply a common look to them all and I don't want to cut n paste every single slide. Help please.

Are you copying the slide to the master slide before you save it as the
template? If not, try that and see if it helps :)

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]
[TOP ISSUE - Are you having difficulty opening presentations in PowerPoint
that you just created (you can save, but not open)? -
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329820]

Hello,

The built-in help for PowerPoint includes some instructions for how to
create new (or customize existing) templates (designs, masters). Did you
find this information insufficient or too difficult to locate (we are
always looking for ways to improve our built-in product assistance)?

The main thing to remember is that editing/creating custom design templates
is just like editing a slide EXCEPT that you edit the Slide/Title master(s)
(Use: View -> Master -> Slide Master) instead of editing the actual slides
(Do NOT use: View -> Slide, or View -> Normal).

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide additional assistance about (or features which
facilitate the) creation and/or modification of PowerPoint designs, don't
forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
