Lets see, I bought a new motherboard, 256MB ram, video
card, second HD, and cd rw drive, and P4 processor. Its
all hooked up right i think but i have my old HD as the
primary master so it boots windows xp off that. it
starts up and finds all the drives fine, but it asks
about starting windows in safe mode, network, or in
command prompt cause of all the hardware changes. any
one i pick it starts, but then flashes a blue screen real
quick and starts the comp over again, and keeps goin and
goin like that. What's up? can i transfer my operating
system to the bare minimum onto the new HD so it works
right? what should i do? the motherboard doesn't have
onboard video so i have a GeForce128MB. It's a ECS
EliteGroup 648FX-A board w/ hyperthreading and all. What
should i do.

A repair installation. You can't just plug everything in and expect it to
boot straight to Windows. Boot from the XP CD and follow the instructions.

But what if i only have a product recovery cd that only
allows me to restore back to factory defaults and i loose
all my existing data ??

help.

is there a few files to delete to restore my xp.

Delete?! Yes, you need to delete the old installation. Your system's
recovery CD is now useless as it was only designed to install on the
original motherboard. You will now have to purchase a full retail version of
whatever flavour of XP you desire.

And you deserve to lose (and yes, it's spelt with one 'o') all your data for
not having the nouse to back it up.
