I have some SATA drives that only use the new connector (at work) however at
home all my SATA drives have both the new connector and the old 12v molex
connector.

I can either run two PSU rails out to my drive area in my case or just one
older 12v rail. Are there any advantages to this new power connector?
There seems to be a heck of a lot of pins on that thing?????

Or I guess a better question would be, "what's up with this new SATA power
connector"?

Thanks for any input!

What do you mean by 'two PSU rails' ?. I have an adaptor that connects to a
old type molex and has 2 SATA power connectors in a daisy chain.

On my power supply each cable strand is it's own power rail. I don't need
to convert anything as I can use both power connectors on my drives.

I just need to know if there is any advantages to using a REAL SATA power
connector. What is up with all those pins?

Anyone?
